I received my doctorate from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, India in 2003. At present I am working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Biotechnology, Bharathidasan University. I have established a laboratory named Chemical Ecology Research Laboratory (CERL). Chemical ecology is the science that addresses the role of chemical signals in the interaction of living organisms with the environment. Understanding the fundamental and basic concepts in chemical ecology will explore the chemical play between intra and inter specific organisms with the environment. Chemical information conveyance will play a vital role in green (Agriculture pest control, crop improvement), white (Livestock production) and blue (Aquaculture fish and prawn culture) revolution and also in developing sustainable environment. Hence, our research is mainly deals on understanding and addressing the issues raised from the above mentioned fields. Still it is a budding field, unpopular among the scientist community in India. The focus of our lab is to explore the semiochemicals (Pheromones) and their functions from rodents to wild animals. In addition, the lab investigates the endocrine disrupting effect of manmade chemicals (pollutants) in the ecosystem and their restoration by employing chemical signals as endocrine modulators.
